Say 'I Do' at InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa

Beach Ceremony
The ceremony takes place on the hotel beach, which is decorated for the occasion in the Polynesian way, with palms and flowers. The bride and groom are dressed in their villa by a mama of the group with white pareos, the traditional costume of marriage in Polynesia. The couple leaves the bungalow by outrigger canoe, and are greeted on the beach by the Master of Ceremonies and dancers, the sound of the Pu, the ukuleles and the songs and singers. The priest makes the couple's union in the pure Polynesian tradition with a speech in Tahitian. He will provide flower leis, necklaces & crowns; the couple exchanges these flowers as a sign of exchanging their vows. The priest joins the couple's hands with a sheet of niau and blesses them by pouring sea water, then baptizes them with their Polynesian names. The couple is then introduced to Tahitian dance during which they are wrapped with the traditional "Tifaifai" which symbolizes their union. The couple are settled comfortably on a sofa in a straw hut where two punches in a real coconut are served, while watching the show dedicated to them.
