The Tahiti Islands are situated in the
South Pacific and they are comprised of 118 islands grouped into five archipelagos. The Society Islands is the most popular Tahitian archipelago. It consists of several tropical islands surrounded by lagoons: Tahiti, Moorea, Taha’a , Bora Bora, Huahine and Raiatea. The Tahiti Islands cover a wide range of natural attractions: ivory sandy beaches, dynamic marine life and clear water combined with the roughness of mountains and steeps. This combination of mountains, high waterfalls, clear beaches or deep valleys is nature’s surprising original display.
Tahiti, one of the largest isles in French Ploynesia. It is a famous world wide as a spectacular and exotic tourist destination. It is famous for its bungalows built above the water, Polynesian spas, diving, snorkeling, cruising and honeymoons. One can not ask for anything better than Tahiti as far as accommodation is concerned. Almost wherever rooms are located, the view is spectacular. Lodging options range from hotels to large or medium sized lagoon luxury resorts.
Tahitian food consists mostly of fresh fish and fruits. The most popular Tahitian restaurants are: Casablanca (it blends Tahitian and French cooking), The Mango Café (it offers art nouveau atmosphere), Jack Lobster, Le Cigalon or L’O a la Bouche. For those who wish to have more informal dinners, they can choose Vai’ete Square, a place where they can choose from a variety island desserts and cuisines hosted by food wagons called roulettes.
You can spend unique moments while snorkeling in the crystal waters around the island. But don’t stop here! With the help of an experienced diving instructor, which can be hired by choice, you can explore the magnificent coral reefs and sunken vessels of the deep. Island lagoons are perfect for canoeing and kayaking, while the deep sea provides marlin for fishing. For those looking for excitement, more dynamic activities are offered, such as jet skiing, water skiing or wind surfing.
Bora Bora is considered one of the most romantic islands in the world. The sweet smell of hibiscus covers its tropical valleys while the lagoons lay in the sun in an undisturbed quiet. Bungalows over the water and dramatic island scenery create an atmosphere of romance and intimacy which is perfect for any loving couple, especially newly-weds.
Guests are dazzled by the luxury and the special treatment they receive on the island. In the morning, they receive breakfast in the private balcony of their bungalow by means of a canoe regaled in flowers. Nothing beats starting your day by taking a refreshing swim right from your bungalow, followed by a walk on the white beach. Guests can also have a picnic on a private beach. In the evening, there’s nothing more pleasant than to admire the breath taking sunset while having a four course dinner aboard a private catamaran. Dinners are usually accompanied by live Polynesian music and groups of dancers. Tahiti combines two different cultures, the Ploynesian culture and the French culture, into one unique explosion of rhythm, color and luxury.
As far as activities are concerned, you can not travel to Bora Bora and not go diving within its waters. Here, there is an abundance of marine life. Divers can run into creatures like the gigantic manta ray or the black-tip reef shark.
Another important island in the Society Islands is Moreea. Moreea is considered the magical island. Once you have visited this island you will remain forever under its exotic spell. The island is covered by majestic almost vertical mountain slopes, surrounded by shallow lagoons into which water from poetic waterfalls tumbles down. The island is inhabited; simple houses painted in pastel colors with flower gardens form small villages which circle the island.
The secluded beaches, lush valleys and luxury resorts make Moreea an ideal romantic destination. This is why many couples wanting to get married choose this Polynesian island for their wedding ceremonies. There are excellent restaurants all over the island, on the beach or near lagoons. They serve Tahitian, Chinese, French or Italian cuisine, in original combinations.
Many resorts are located on the east side of the island so that rooms may have views of Tahiti. Others are situated on the north side, towards the spectacular scenery of mountains and lagoons. Guests accommodated in resorts on the west side can enjoy a direct view of the tropical sun setting in the ocean.
After a romantic dinner, and a relaxing night, the following day asks for more dynamic activities. There are many types of water activities available. The most popular sites and activities on Moreea are: diving, tastings at the Fruit Juice Factory, visiting plantations, the Tiki Theatre Village and the Papetoai village, snorkeling, mountain explorations, lagoon explorations, parasailing, jet skiing, kayaking, deep sea fishing or shark feeding. You can not leave Moreea without swimming with the dolphins. You will fall in love with these wonderful friendly creatures waiting for you at the Moreea Dolphin Center.
Guests can take a safari through the hidden valleys and towards the mystical waterfalls. For those who prefer to go by foot, a guide is available for walking explorations through mountain passes. There is also the possibility to admire the island from above, from a helicopter. Those who miss a good day of shopping can find wonderful objects and souvenirs at the small boutiques or at the art galleries and workshops.
The Tahiti Islands are the ideal romantic destination. Many couples come to Tahiti for a special wedding ceremony, for their honeymoon or to renew their vows. The small villages, the infinite pristine beaches and the intimate luxury resorts make Tahiti one of the most sought for romantic destinations on Earth. For those looking for romantic voyages, cruises are organized every week for Tahiti’s isles, on yachts or luxurious cruise ships. Another thing worth mentioning is the Polynesian spas, which help guests experience deep relaxation, away from the noisy civilized world.
